GENERAL INFORMATION
What is the primary objective of the University Programme? The University Programme aims to increase access to world-class institutions by providing scholarships for candidates to pursue international pre-university/foundation programmes in Malaysia and undergraduate and postgraduate studies in leading universities in the US, UK, or Australia.
What is the value of the University Programme scholarships? The scholarship value will depend on the level of study. Pre-university scholarships will cover the full tuition costs, books, and boarding fees (at residential colleges) whereas overseas undergraduate and postgraduate scholarships will cover partial costs of the total tuition fees, course materials and living expenses, as estimated by the relevant university.
Are there preferred universities for the University Programme? Pre-university scholarships are open to applicants pursuing established programmes at leading local private colleges. The undergraduate and postgraduate scholarships are open to applicants who have received at least a conditional offer to any of the leading international universities as ranked by the Times Higher Education.
Does YDD help scholarship applicants to secure a place at college/university? All applicants are expected to obtain their own college or university admissions.
Will scholars be bonded? No, all scholars will not be bonded upon completion of their studies.
Will scholars be automatically considered for successive scholarship programmes? No, those who wish to be considered are requested to submit their application and will be reviewed as fresh candidates along with other applicants
What are the areas of study covered by the University Programme scholarships?
The scholarship is for applicants pursuing all subjects, with focus on niche area subjects, non-traditional, and specialized majors for undergraduate studies.
Can applicants with admission to a part-time university courses apply to the University Programme scholarships?
Only those who wish to pursue full-time studies will be considered.
Can applicants who have already started university courses apply?
Only applicants starting first year of courses will be considered.
Is there a minimum grade that scholars need to maintain? All scholarsmust maintain a minimum 2nd Class Honours or above, or CGPA of 3.0 or above, or at least a grade B in all examinations taken as part of the course.
How do undergraduate and postgraduate scholars fund the balance costnot covered by the scholarship? Given that the undergraduate and postgraduate scholarship only cover partial total course amount, scholars are encouraged to pursue other forms of bursaries, loans, grants from other organizations or financial assistance from family to support the balance cost.
What other requirements must applicants meet for the University Programme scholarships? We require successful applicants to show evidence of ability to support the balance costs, as well as satisfy the medical and visa requirements prior to being offered a scholarship.

When can applicants start applying for the University Programme scholarships and when will they know if they have been successful? The application for the University Programme scholarships is now open and will be reviewed as they are received. Shortlisted applicants will be notified within two weeks after submission. For applicants seeking admission for the 2011 intake, we would encourage you to first gain admission before applying for this scholarship.
Do applicants need to mail their certificates in to YDD?
No, applicants do not need to send in their certificates or academic transcripts. Shortlisted applicants will need to bring copies of their certificates and academic transcripts when they are invited for an interview.
What happens if I have not secured a place in any college or university? We require applicants to show evidence of acceptance from their institution of choice and that they have satisfied the conditions of entry prior to being offered the scholarship.
Can I appeal your decision if I am not shortlisted? All decisions on the selection of scholarship awards are final.
