TWELVE exemplary undergraduate students received monetary aid from the Lion-Parkson Foundation.
A total of RM390,000 worth of scholarships were awarded to the students, who were chosen based on their academic performance, extra-curricular activities and leadership qualities.
The scholarships will help fund the undergraduates’ studies as they pursue their first degree in local institutions of higher learning.
They each receive RM10,000 per year for the duration of their studies.
This is the 22nd year that the Lion-Parkson Foudation has been providing financial help for students to pursue their studies.
Getting their input: Cheng and Dr Chua Siew Kiat chatting with the scholarship recipients.
Lion-Parkson Foundation chairman Puan Sri Chelsia Cheng said she hoped the foundation’s contribution would help students to be free of financial constraints and be able to focus on their studies and participate in activities to develop their leadership qualities.
“A sound education will not only help to improve a person’s life, but also enables them to take care of their family and contribute to the community,” added Cheng.
Besides that, the students were also offered internship opportunities by Lion Group during their semester breaks.
The Lion-Parkson Foundation was founded in 1990, with aims to administer and disburse funds for various needs such as education, charity and scientific research.
To date, it has sponsored a total of 378 students through various sponsorhip programmes, as well as donated to various other causes.
